Summer Blackhorse

I am a needle felt artist, sculptor, painter, photographer, writer, and musician. Much of my work is inspired by science and the natural world. I am the owner of Land C Studio in Portland, Oregon.

My creative endeavors have led me in many directions. Beginning in 2012, I changed my focus to needle and wet felt work and have since created a portfolio of wool and fiber sculptures, paintings and wearable art. I am currently working on curating the Oregon Flock and Fiber Festival art show for 2025 and am focusing primarily on various state and national gallery entries and competitions for my work.

Additionally, I have been a member of the Board of Directors for Cracked Pots, done editing for the Art By The Hour e-zine, provided creative administration on Facebook and Instagram, done cloths modeling, set and costume design, and collaboration work with local NW photographers, as well as released an art therapy photo book, DDouble EExposure, an experience in healing trauma through digital photography.

Finally, I have provided photos for a local Portland regional walking book, helped produce several full-length albums including providing various illustrations, photos, vocals and instrumentation.

Current creative portfolio:

  • Primary discipline - two and three dimensional needlefelt fiber art

  • Reuse art

  • Random Acts of Colllage (RAC) cards, (originals and prints available)
