ReUse Art
Recycled and reuse art was initially a way for me to creatively explore problem solving using different types of found, recycled, or trash items as a medium. As a child, I made animals and small pictures out of scrap metal, old jewelry and bits of wood or fabric. I also began doing remake models from old plastic horses that I found at second hand stores or had on my shelves.
My goal as a reuse artist is to keep creatively useful items out of landfill and the environment. I reuse nearly 85% of the items that I have collected, found, or have been donated to me. These recycled parts and pieces help me visualize and create pieces that are unique, meaningful, and visually and emotionally engaging. Reuse shadowbox art is a way for me to develop and create nostalgic pathways that connect with the past and bring it into the present. Each piece is a transformative and innovative invitation to step into a still life snapshop or visual time capsule.
